I think something is wrong with my school.
I don't know if it is just my school, but something is definitely wrong here.
Here's what I've been thinking about: teachers go through years of schooling just so that they can pass on their hard-earned knowledge. I know that in many place they are treated like doctors. As they should be. But it;s not like that at my school! The teachers have to put up with so much crap from the students! Many of them are flagrantly disobeying/taunting/disrespecting the teachers so much, it's a wonder that they are able to teach at all. This makes me so uncomfortable when this happens, and I feel like I need to apologize for the atrocious behavior of much of the class.
Quite recently, our school went into a lockdown (there was a "situation" across the street that needed police attendance, but we didn't know that at the time. For all we knew, our lives were in danger). My teacher was amazing! She immediately followed the procedure and got everyone away from the door. She then proceeded to sit right next to the door with a pair of scissors in her hands. The next day, when somebody mentioned that, my teacher said "I knew that, if some guy managed to get into the room, I would never have a chance of outrunning them. So I thought I'd delay them and give you guys the best chance possible." Let's think about this here. Not only does this amazing woman spend her life preparing us for the future, but she was willing to sacrifice herself in this situation so that her students could get away.
And these stupid students DARE to disrespect teachers so much? Heck, I overheard something that another girl said once: "Yeah, I was so mad at [teacher] because she was telling me to be quiet so she could teach. I said 'hey, I'm just talking to my friends here. Of course, you don't have any, so you wouldn't know what that's like.' I made her cry; it was awesome." You don't have to be an angel every single day in class, but this sort of thing is not okay!
I need a moment/can't believe this crap.
